Users don’t have access to the hard drive storage on the library computers to store personal files, and you can't e-mail documents that haven't been saved & closed on the computer. Clicking the “Save” button won’t work unless you are saving it to another location, such as:
1. Your personal SHU system profile’s “Documents” folder;
2. Your personal flash drive;
3. By opening the item in question on your personal computer.
4. Database articles can be e-mailed directly to your account.
Using your personal SHU system profile “Documents” folder will allow you to access and edit the file from other computers on campus. In the library, you’ll be able to print to the library public printer/copier and pay for copies with your swipe card.
A personal flash drive will allow you to open the file on other computers on and off campus and copy the file to those computers and share the file with other students in a group. You’ll be able to edit the file on other computers. In the library, you’ll be able to print to the library public printer/copier and pay for copies with your swipe card. The flash drive can hold a “back-up” copy in case the network is down or your computer crashes.
Copies on your personal computer can be opened, edited, and copied or e-mailed to others. It is not currently possible to print from personal laptops to the library public printer/copier.
If you are editing different copies of the same project, keep track of the different versions and update other copies so that all contain the same revisions.
Documents from library databases can be e-mailed full-text directly to yourself and others in your project group. You can also paste your writing into an e-mail.
Blackboard has specialized tools for completing, saving, and submitting assignments online.
